Trusted care by Dr. Radhika, Prosthodontist & Oral Implantologist
Tooth fillings are a common restorative treatment used to repair teeth affected by decay, minor fractures, or everyday wear. They help restore the tooth’s natural shape, protect it from further damage, and support comfortable chewing and biting.
At Spectrum, we believe in catching problems early. Our approach focuses on minimally invasive care using biocompatible, tooth-colored materials that blend seamlessly with your smile. The result? A restoration that feels natural, looks invisible, and helps preserve your long-term oral health.
There isn’t a one‑size‑fits‑all approach to cavities. The right filling material depends on the tooth’s location, the amount of chewing force involved and your aesthetic preferences. At Spectrum, we offer the following options:
Composite resin (tooth‑coloured)
made of a resin base mixed with fine glass or quartz particles. Composite fillings blend seamlessly with your natural teeth and preserve more tooth structure. They are ideal for small‑to‑medium cavities in visible areas.
Amalgam (silver‑coloured)
a durable blend of metals including silver, tin and copper. Amalgam fillings withstand heavy chewing forces and are often used on back teeth; however they are visible when you smile and aren’t recommended during pregnancy.
Glass ionomer
a tooth‑coloured material that chemically bonds to the tooth and slowly releases fluoride, helping to prevent further decay. These fillings are suitable for baby teeth or areas that don’t bear strong chewing forces.
Porcelain inlays/onlays
custom‑made restorations crafted from strong ceramic. Porcelain matches the colour of natural enamel and resists staining. It’s used for larger cavities and may require two appointments.
Gold inlays/onlays
a mixture of gold and other metals that offers exceptional longevity and does not tarnish. Gold fillings are very strong and suitable for back teeth, though their colour is visible and they are more costly.
